Primary Responsibilities

  • Aid in assessing the suitability of blood donors.
  • Build rapport with donors to maintain their comfort and satisfaction, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Respond to and assist with managing donor reactions.
  • Monitor donors and equipment to ensure their health and product quality.
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines.
  • Disconnect and dispose of contaminated disposable equipment.

    Occupational Demands

    • Work in a plasma center.
    • Exposure to biological fluids and potential infectious organisms.
    • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment.
    • Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while working in plasma freezer.
    • Required personal protective equipment includes protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear.
    • Stand for 6 to 8 hours per day.
    • Bend and twist neck and waist for 1-2 hours per day.
    • Frequent hand movement with ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
    • Make precise coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects.
    • Frequent foot movement; may infrequently squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels.
    • May walk up to 6-8 hours per day.
    • Lift up to 50 lbs., with a maximum lift of 15 lbs.
    • Reach below shoulder height.
    • Hearing acuity essential.
    • Color perception/discrimination, near vision, and far vision correctable to 20/30 and 20/100 in each eye.
    • Able to comprehend and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks.
    • Must possess the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
    • Must relate sensitive information to diverse groups.

      Pay and Benefits

      The estimated pay scale for the Phlebotomist role based in Moorhead, MN, is $17.10-$19.00 per hour. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 4% of the company bonus pool. We offer a wide variety of benefits including, but not limited to: Medical, Dental, Vision, life insurance, PTO, paid holidays, and up to 5% 401(K) match and tuition reimbursement. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity, and market data.
