One Medical is a primary care solution challenging the industry status quo by making quality care more affordable, accessible and enjoyable. We’re on a mission to transform healthcare, improving the experience for patients, providers, employers, and health networks. Our seamless in-office and 24/7 virtual care services, on-site labs, and programs for preventive care, chronic care management, common illnesses, and mental health concerns have been delighting people for the past fifteen years. In February 2023, One Medical joined Amazon to deliver exceptional healthcare to more consumers, employers, care team members, and health networks.

About the role

As a One Medical Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist (Phlebotomist/Administrative Assistant) at one of our offices, you’ll provide an exceptional experience for our patients and help them accomplish an important part of their care journey through venipuncture and other clinical support services. You will be an ambassador for patients, mastering human connection and demonstrating a strong drive for service. You will remove barriers to care, ensuring a truly exceptional in-office patient experience while maintaining the look and feel of the office lobby to align with the One Medical brand. As the first point of contact, you will support patients and assist the Practice Coordinator, Operations Manager, or providers as needed. Flex team members support multiple offices, requiring strong teamwork and innovative problem-solving skills to tackle various tasks and challenges. You will combine excellent specimen collection technique with tactful interpersonal skills during every interaction, both at the front desk and in the lab.

Responsibilities

  • Use impeccable C-I-CARE (a framework for effective communication) in all patient interactions, ensuring a fluid and positive in-office experience through patient intake, same-day schedule management, follow-up scheduling, billing and insurance knowledge, monitoring patient feedback, and assisting with outreach.
  • Provide best-in-class venipuncture services for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, depending on the office location.
  • Perform and assist with extended scope duties such as non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization.
  • Support members beyond the lab room by answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting providers and the virtual medical team with clerical duties such as biometric screening forms, medical record and consult review, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
  • Handle front-of-house duties including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, printing/paperwork tasks, prepping tests, and tasking to service level expectations.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, attending team huddles, participating in problem-solving, and supporting in-office providers with ad hoc requests.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, daily office upkeep, restocking supplies, and maintaining the organization of patient and employee-facing spaces.
  • Master technology tools including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, and the Electronic Medical Record System to interact with team members and complete daily work.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
  • An active phlebotomy certification to practice in CA.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer technology, such as typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously.
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (remote team experience is a plus).
  • Ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care.
  • Proven track record of persisting through change, stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly when faced with new situations or tasks.

The range for this role is $26.25 to $28.25 per hour based on a standard full-time schedule, with a 1.25x differential for eligible extended hours. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as skill sets, depth of experience, and work location.
