Job Summary

Ensures Compliance

• Complies with state and federal regulations (e.g. FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP)

Maintains Customer Service

• Maintains high level of customer service and positive donor experience

Cleanliness and Organization

• Maintains cleanliness of work area
• Maintains adequate inventory and replenishes supplies

Donor Care and Safety

• Reviews and confirms donor identification
• Maintains donor confidentiality
• Executes venipunctures and plasma collection
• Maintains proper ratio to ensure donor safety and product quality
• Handles disposal of biohazardous waste and contaminated equipment
• Maintains accurate and thorough documentation
• Monitors donor conditions and employs techniques for donor comfort and safety
• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines
• Reports unsafe situations and conditions to management

Training and Mentorship

• Mentors junior phlebotomists
• Trains as QA-Backup and/or NexSys Technician

Quality Assurance and Collaboration

• Partners with Quality Assurance on overall Donor Floor performance
• Implements CAPA and participates in continuous improvement initiatives

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and pull up to thirty-five pounds
• Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel
• Utilizes all required PPE at all times
• Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens
• Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods
• Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice
• Ability to perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Three (3) months’ experience in a medical or healthcare environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties before performing duties independently
• Any specific certification or licensing based on State requirements
