Ensuring Compliance and Customer Service
- Maintains compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g. FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP)
- Maintains high level of customer service and positive donor experience
- Maintains cleanliness of work area
- Confirms donor identification and maintains donor confidentiality
Operational Tasks
- Set up and prepare equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures
- Label and ensure accurate labeling of units and samples
- Execute venipunctures and plasma collection
- Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, respond to and evaluate machine alarms and alerts
- Maintain proper ratio to ensure donor safety and product quality
- Disconnect donors and handle biohazardous waste and contaminated equipment
- Maintain and stock plasma carts
- Oversee donor flow, organize lunch schedules, breaks, and adhere to schedule
Training and Development
- Train as QA-Backup and/or NexSys Technician
- Participate in Quality Assurance on Donor Floor performance
- Perform troubleshooting and QC routine
- Assist with storage room organization
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum three (3) months’ experience in a medical or healthcare environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
- Strong customer service skills
- Basic computer knowledge and skills
- Able to make accurate and complete documentation
- Ability to read and interpret documents, perform precise tasks, and communicate effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to work day and evening shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts
- Ability to perform venipunctures
Physical Requirements
- Sit or stand for extended periods
- Lift and pull up to thirty-five pounds
- Bend, stoop, or kneel
- Utilize all required PPE at all times
- Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice
- Precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills
