Philosophy Instructor, Part-time Adjunct Pool (East Kern/Tehachapi)

Salary: $67.00 hourly (rate may vary based on assignment and Lecture Hour Equivalent formula).

About the Role

Kern Community College District is accepting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors in Philosophy. Applications remain active for up to two years, and qualified applicants may be contacted as needs arise.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in a full range of philosophy courses, including at various campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, and through distance learning using multiple teaching methodologies.
• Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Social Science department.
• Maintain subject matter currency and develop/revise curriculum.
• Use computer and multimedia technology in instruction.
• Engage in collegial participation in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.

Requirements

• Master’s in Philosophy; OR
• Bachelor’s in Philosophy AND Master’s in Humanities or Religious Studies; OR
• Possession of a valid California Community College credential authorizing full-time teaching of Philosophy; OR
• Equivalent combination of education, experience, and accomplishments (candidates must submit an Application for Equivalence form with supporting documents).
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Degrees must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees require evaluation by a NACES or ACEI member service.
