Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington. Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy, and related services, with network affiliations across five states. The organization’s Philanthropy department raises funds to accelerate cancer and related disease research, clinical research, and education, aiming to make Fred Hutch the world’s best cancer center. Since April 2022, Fred Hutch has served as the cancer program for UW Medicine, and the Philanthropy team raises funds to fuel the adult oncology program for both organizations.

The team of over 140 staff implements high-performing, relationship-based fundraising programs, engaging thousands of supporters passionate about world-changing science. Goals include advancing a $3 billion Campaign for Fred Hutch, increasing annual fundraising, deepening patient family fundraising, and expanding community support.

About the Role

The Program Manager, Events, is a member of the Experience & Engagement program and reports to the Executive Director, Events. This program oversees broad-based fundraising, peer-to-peer programming, donor communications, donor marketing, and a robust pipeline of events. The role is responsible for the development, management, planning, production, and delivery of program priorities within Philanthropy.

This position plays a pivotal role in planning, executing, and evaluating fundraising events, requiring strong project management and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional donor experiences. Some travel, weekend, and evening work is required. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of two days per week at the South Lake Union campus.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Executive Director, Events, and program leads, plan, produce, and deliver comprehensive event plans, including strategy, timelines, budgets, and production plans.
  • Manage and coordinate with vendors, venues, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless event execution; partner with internal stakeholders to develop audience strategies and program content.
  • Oversee all aspects of event production, including producing invitations, managing guest registration and seating arrangements, and handling on-site logistics.
  • Build strategic and collegial partnerships to problem-solve and strengthen programs.
  • Manage engagement and strategic growth of internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy leaders and partner teams to develop innovative strategies, clear goals, and implement programs/projects that deliver on those goals.
  • Implement and manage all aspects and logistics of assigned projects from concept to completion.
  • Collaborate with partner teams and programs to produce deliverables.
  • Document and maintain records for historical reference and analysis.
  • Establish, improve, and/or update procedures and processes.
  • Serve as an individual contributor; this role has program responsibility but does not include people or fundraising management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing events with an auction component, including auction software database management; item procurement, packaging, and fulfillment; and writing catalog descriptions.
  • Familiarity with bidding dynamics, lot cataloging, or client management in live or online auction settings.
  • Proven experience working with volunteers and volunteer committees.
  • Ability to periodically perform light lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of event materials weighing approximately 20 pounds.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, research, or healthcare environment with campaign planning or implementation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly developed organizational and information management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively within a complex organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with a CRM, Raiser’s Edge/RENXT, or related fundraising software.
  • Ability to handle and respect confidential and sensitive information.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,172 to $114,941. Pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
