Philanthropic Advisory Analyst
Crown Family Philanthropies (CFP) is the philanthropic division of Henry Crown and Company and supports the Crown Family's philanthropic and grantmaking endeavors. Established in 2009, CFP continues the legacy of Arie and Ida Crown, dedicated to the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam, or "repairing the world." Supported by a professional staff, CFP is led by over 50 family members across multiple generations who engage in strategic grantmaking.

About the role
The Advisory Analyst supports Crown Family Philanthropies (CFP) by delivering a personalized approach to family members' philanthropic and civic engagement. Reporting to the Manager of Advisory Services and Family Education, the Analyst manages data, administrative, and research tasks central to high-quality advisory services. This role requires exceptional organization, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently while navigating ambiguity with sound judgment.
Responsibilities
- Data Management: Complete accurate and timely database updates, including processing donation/grant records in SmartSimple and maintaining family engagement records in Quarry.
- Family Liaison: Support notification processes for CFP-awarded grants; manage the philanthropic advisory email inbox, coordinate responses, and handle family mail.
- Family Eligibility and Engagement Tracking: Maintain records of family eligibility and completion of requirements (e.g., directed giving orientation, conflict of interest forms, modules, meeting notes).
- Data Analysis: Analyze personal giving data to identify trends, inform collective engagements, and strengthen family connections to collective giving.
- Grants Management: Research and develop grant recommendations, conduct due diligence on prospective grantees, and support grantee relationship management for individual family members.
- Philanthropic Trends: Conduct research on issues, organizations, and leaders relevant to family members' interests (e.g., democracy, reproductive justice, hunger, animal welfare) to inform engagement and grantmaking decisions.
- Relationship Development and Stewardship: Support advisory relationships for a portfolio of family members, with opportunities to grow into full management of these relationships.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build trusting relationships with stakeholders, including senior leaders, junior staff, nonprofit partners, and family members.
- Asset Development: Support preparation for Advisory Services meetings, maintaining and updating bespoke philanthropic materials.
- Coordination: Collaborate with the CFP team across program areas, operations, and strategy to ensure cross-functional communication.
- Collaboration: Participate in CFP Team activities that advance social impact and family engagement, aligning with CFP’s Mission and Values.
- Growth and Leadership: Engage in team initiatives such as meetings, trainings, retreats, and special projects, taking the lead where applicable.
- Administrative Work: Assist with team agendas, scheduling, calendar management, and other administrative duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate field experience.
- 2+ years of experience in grants management, administrative support, fundraising, or a client- or relationship-focused role; candidates from adjacent fields (e.g., education, social impact) are encouraged to apply.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in database management and CRM systems; experience with grants management platforms (e.g., SmartSimple) is a plus.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to identify trends and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Genuine passion for social impact and curiosity about philanthropic strategy and grantmaking.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity; ability to follow established processes while exercising sound judgment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear, professional materials for diverse audiences.

Pay
The starting salary range for this role is $83,000 - $95,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
