Job Summary
Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego has a full-time position available for a Pharmacy Technician Specialist – Sterile Compounding. The position is located at Mercy San Diego and offers varied 10-hour shifts with flexible days.
Responsibilities
- Support pharmacy operations by preparing, compounding, and distributing medications for patient care under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Specialize in sterile compounding, hazardous drug handling, and compliance with USP , , and institutional policies.
- Ensure medication accuracy, safety, and timely delivery while collaborating with nurses and pharmacy personnel.
- Provide technical leadership, training, quality assurance support, inventory management, and workflow oversight to maintain optimal pharmacy operations and patient safety standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- California Pharmacy Technician License
- Certification by National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) within 6 months of hire
- Certification by a national pharmacy technician certification board in sterile compounding preparation (CSPT) within 1 year of hire
- 2 years’ pharmacy technician experience with 1 year sterile compounding
Preferred
- CPhT and CSPT certifications
- 5 years’ experience preferred
- 2 years compounding experience
