Pharmacy Technician Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist to assist the pharmacist in providing high quality, efficient care to patients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about patient care and committed to supporting the team.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assists the pharmacist in filling physician orders and prioritizing workload
• Greets patients, smiles, and maintains eye contact
• Answers telephones, identifies department and name, and addresses callers by name when appropriate
• Completes daily work assignments with minimal supervision or direction
• Maintains required documentation logs and medication storage
• Performs quality control and performance improvement functions as assigned
• Compiles and documents monthly medication storage area inspections
• Completes basic billing functions
• Accurately performs and documents calculations
• Compounds and labels medications and parenteral admixtures
• Packages and prepares medications for dispensing
• Ensures compliance with facility policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
• Retrieves data for Quality Improvement monitors and makes recommendations to improve care
• Attends and participates in departmental staff meetings and carries out daily ADC routines
• Supports the development, revision, and improvement of departmental policies and procedures
• Assists in coordinating the orientation of new employees
• Provides technical support for automated dispensing machines and other pharmacy computer systems
• Processes medication returns and restocking
• Manages drug supplies in a cost-effective manner
• Performs receiving and checking in of medication/supply orders
• Reconciles billing documents daily with Meditech and patient accounting
• Places medication orders in the pharmacy buyer’s absence

Qualifications

• State Registration as a Pharmacy Technician
• High School Graduate / GED
