Shift start and end times are variable. This is a 10-hour shift position under a 10/40 schedule. Evening shifts may range from 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM or 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM. Weekend work is as needed. On-call is not required.

Pay

The hourly pay range is $27.37 – $30.11. The stated scale reflects the range Sharp reasonably expects to pay; actual pay will depend on experience, skills, education, internal alignment, market factors, and employer practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in ordering, preparing, and distributing medications.
  • Prepare IV additives and solutions using aseptic technique.
  • Order and restock supplies; maintain the IV room and pharmacy in a neat, orderly manner.
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment, including unit-based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Scan medications into and out of carousel and C-II safe at all times.
  • Scan medications being refilled into automated dispensing machines (ADM) to ensure correct restocking.
  • Deliver patient medications to nursing stations, including STAT bags, ADM loads, refills, and IV medications.
  • Retrieve unused medications from nursing floors for reuse or destruction.
  • Ensure STAT medications are filled and delivered promptly.
  • Use scanning devices to confirm medication delivery to appropriate locations.
  • Prepare bulk medications using the unit dose system and compound non-sterile special items.
  • Restock crash carts, miscellaneous kits, and floor stock requisitions as needed.
  • Assist with receiving and storing wholesale or direct orders.
  • Maintain proper garbing, cleaning, and maintenance of the Clean Room Suite and equipment (e.g., Laminar Airflow Hood, BSC hood) per USP 797 and California State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Monitor refrigerator temperatures, room temperatures, and differential pressures in hazardous drug (HD), ante, and clean rooms.
  • Document all activities online daily.
  • Properly store, handle, and dispose of IV medications and supplies, including hazardous materials.
  • Use the C-II safe appropriately; run daily compare reports to identify discrepancies and notify the Controlled Substance Technician or manager.
  • Prepare all admixtures using aseptic technique and prioritize preparation for multiple patients.
  • Routinely check expiration dates in ADMs and the pharmacy; remove outdated medications and place them in the appropriate area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • California Pharmacy Technician License (TCH) or California Intern Pharmacist License (CA State Board of Pharmacy) – required.
  • IV admixture experience (required for OP Infusion Center).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience with Pyxis med stations and C-II safes.
  • Chemotherapy preparation experience.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) – preferred.

Skills

  • Computer proficiency.
  • Competency in IV sterile technique.
  • Knowledge of brand/generic drug names.
