Pharmacy Technician - Outpatient Pharmacy

Responsibilities

• Affirms state and federal laws and regulations for safe pharmacy practice.
• Completes non-sterile compounding following USP Standards.
• Alerts pharmacists to drug allergies, interactions, and insurance issues.
• Provides courteous and timely customer service.
• Restocks prescription supplies and removes outdated medications from inventory.
• Maintains adequate medication inventory levels and documents in the electronic medical record.
• Maintains professional relationships with pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
• Trains new employees and acts as a positive role model.
• Participates in compliance with Ohio Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, URAC, CMS, and FDA regulations.

Requirements

• Prior experience as an outpatient or inpatient pharmacy technician preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a “Certified Ohio Pharmacy Technician” or “Pharmacy Technician Trainee” required.
• Certified or Registered Ohio Pharmacy Technician status must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Valid State driver's license and insurability as determined by the ACH insurance carrier's requirements.
• An annual physical is required to be completed with the Akron Children's Hospital Employee Health Department.
