Responsibilities
- Affirms state and federal laws and regulations for safe pharmacy practice.
- Completes non-sterile compounding following USP Standards.
- Alerts pharmacists to drug allergies, interactions, and insurance issues.
- Provides courteous and timely customer service.
- Restocks prescription supplies and removes outdated medications from inventory.
- Maintains adequate medication inventory levels and documents in the electronic medical record.
- Maintains professional relationships with pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
- Trains new employees and acts as a positive role model.
- Participates in compliance with Ohio Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, URAC, CMS, and FDA regulations.
Requirements
- Prior experience as an outpatient or inpatient pharmacy technician preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a “Certified Ohio Pharmacy Technician” or “Pharmacy Technician Trainee” required.
- Certified or Registered Ohio Pharmacy Technician status must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
- Valid State driver's license and insurability as determined by the ACH insurance carrier's requirements.
- An annual physical is required to be completed with the Akron Children's Hospital Employee Health Department.
