Pharmacy Technician/OnCall/UKHC - Retail Pharmacy

About the Role

Assists pharmacists in medicine preparation and distribution in a UK HealthCare Retail Pharmacy. Fills prescriptions in a busy retail-based setting. Requires attention to detail, excellent customer service, reliability, punctuality, teamwork, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate and be understood in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications.
• Fill prescriptions in a retail pharmacy environment.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain attention to detail in all tasks.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Registration with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy (KBOP) is required within 30 days of hire if not previously registered as a pharmacy technician in KY. Must renew registration on day one if lapsed and maintain it annually in good standing.
• Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for greater than 5 hours at a time.
• Must be able to reach items above or below shoulder level and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of previous work experience, preferably in a related field.
• Previous pharmacy technician experience or coursework/classes in the medical field.
• General chemistry knowledge, basic algebra, and proficient reading/writing/speaking in English.

Schedule

• Typical shifts may include Monday–Friday (7:00 AM–9:00 PM), Saturday, and/or Sunday, depending on location operating hours.
• May include overnight shifts in 24/7 operations if preferred and available.
• Late afternoon/early evening shifts typically do not extend past 9:00 PM.
• Must participate in some weekend shifts and be available year-round, including during campus breaks.
• May be required to work on holidays, which are currently rotated among staff.
• Shift hours and location vary based on department needs and will be reviewed during the interview.

Pay

$16.20–$24.82/hour

Work Locations

• Primary work location is in Lexington, KY, with some retail pharmacies located off-campus in Lexington and Richmond, KY.
• Must be able to commute to assigned sites if selected for off-campus locations.
