Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-person or phone meetings with patients to update medication lists before provider appointments, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, DFCI, and Joint Commission policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Create and update medication lists, document changes, and flag medications for removal to prevent harmful interactions.
  • Communicate drug interactions or other changes with pharmacists and providers to ensure patient safety.
  • Manage medication lists from external sources, maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.
  • Utilize multiple systems to complete and document tasks, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Communicate and escalate issues or problems.
  • Provide cross coverage in hospital outpatient/specialty pharmacies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of prior work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting required.
  • Experience with oncology medications preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Required

  • Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Registration as a Pharmacy Technician required.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) must be obtained within one year of hire date.
