Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
• Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
• Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
• Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Licensed in Florida as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
• Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Florida Board of Pharmacy (FBOP).
• Within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• Six months of hospital experience
• Outpatient/inpatient experience

Skills

• Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
