About the role

The inpatient pharmacy technician supports pharmacists in providing pharmacy services. The technician is responsible for packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
  • Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) within 18 months from the date of hire.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma/GED Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Preferred qualifications: Six months of hospital experience

Skills

  • Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

Pay

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $21.50 Maximum hourly: $31.00

Schedule

A caregiver who excels in this role will work a day/evening rotation from 6:00am to 2:00pm or 3:00pm to 11:30pm with occasional midnights for coverage. Further scheduling requirements include every other weekend and every other holiday.
