  • Tier assignment will be determined at the time of hire based on the candidate’s experience as a pharmacy technician and experience in relevant practice setting.
  • Our pharmacy-led medication history program contributes to an important goal for Carilion: the completion of a Best Possible Medication History (BPMH) for every admitted patient.
  • This is a critical part of patient care, so that our providers may begin clinical decision-making with the most accurate medication list upon patient admission.

What We Require

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years of pharmacy experience required.
  • Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. Pharmacy Technician Certified Board Certification relevant to work area is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail/accuracy. Must be customer service oriented. Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.

Compensation Range

$21.61 - $30.25

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
