In this role, you'll work alongside pharmacists and healthcare professionals to help ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and timely medication services. What You'll Do As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will support pharmacy operations while working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with all state and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Include Entering patient and medication information into EPICPreparing medications for pharmacist review and dispensingRetrieving, counting, packaging, and labeling medications accuratelyAssisting with sterile compounding preparation and training as applicableFilling medication orders and prescriptions in a timely mannerReceiving, stocking, and maintaining medication inventoryEnsuring medication security and proper storageDelivering medications to patients and nursing units after pharmacist verificationPreparing medications for delivery or shipmentProcessing returned medications and credits when appropriateConducting patient follow-up calls as neededFollowing hazardous waste, safety, and quality assurance proceduresMonitoring assigned areas for outdated medicationsMaintaining pharmacy equipment and cleanliness standardsPrioritizing tasks based on patient and operational needsParticipating in department meetings, huddles, and training activitiesAssisting with onboarding and training of new coworkers Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required Licensure Active registration, in good standing, with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician orWillingness to obtain registration by the first day of employment, including submission of fingerprints for the required FBI background check Experience Previous pharmacy experience preferred but not required Certification Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required within six months of hire Skills & Abilities Successful candidates will demonstrate: Strong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent customer service and communication skillsAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentBasic knowledge of pharmacy workflow and medication distribution processesAbility to learn and operate pharmacy technology systems, automated dispensing cabinets, and related softwareStrong organizational and time-management skillsCommitment to patient safety and quality care Professional Development At Mercy, we are committed to helping our coworkers succeed.
