About the role

The Pharmacy Technician I provides technical and operational assistance to the Pharmacy Department in the preparation, checking, distribution and procurement of pharmaceuticals. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and operational assistance to the Pharmacy Department in the preparation, checking, distribution and procurement of pharmaceuticals.
  • Responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.
  • Supports interdisciplinary teams providing a wide range of support and care to a diverse group of patients and families.
  • Ensures safe, accurate, and timely medication management for patients and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams across the broader Covenant Health network.
  • Thrive in team settings, have strong communication skills, and understand the importance of accuracy, organization, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program or recognized equivalent required.
  • Active registration with Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP) required.
  • Recent experience in a community, hospital, or centralized medication preparation setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting medication preparation, dispensing accuracy, inventory management, and medication distribution processes in alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams and sites as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program or recognized equivalent required.
  • Active registration with Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP) required.

Skills

  • Experience using Epic, with familiarity in Connect Care workflows supporting medication order processing and pharmacy operations.
  • Experience within Connect Care.
  • Experience with Kroll, AutoMed or other pharmacy automation and dispensing technologies.
  • Experience supporting medication distribution to healthcare facilities such as hospitals or care centers.
