Responsibilities
- Repackages and distributes prescriptions
- Performs compounding of IV, topical, and oral medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in an accurate and timely manner
- Documents patient and procedural information
- Fulfills proper billing procedures
- Restocks bays and all other work areas with medications
- Performs inventory checks
- Orders medications and supplies
- Performs data entry
- Maintains and cleans pharmaceutical equipment
- Receives and triages phone calls from patients and healthcare providers
- Provides backup front desk customer service
- Adheres to the regulatory and practice standards of pharmaceutical care
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Possession of a current State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license
- For Pharmacy Technician II, PTCB certification within one year of employment (with prior approval from Pharmacy Manager)
- For Pharmacy Technician III and IV, possession of a current State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license and PTCB certification
Qualifications
- One (1) year professional experience at Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) Pharmacy or related experience for Pharmacy Technician I
- Three (3) years professional experience at Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) Pharmacy or related experience for Pharmacy Technician II
- Five (5) years professional experience at Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) Pharmacy or related experience for Pharmacy Technician III and IV
