About the role

The Pharmacy Technician position at Luminis Health is dedicated to supporting the pharmacy department by preparing, packaging, distributing, and delivering medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The role involves a variety of duties including drug distribution, medication preparation, compounding, dose calculation, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare medications, ensuring adherence to departmental procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental policies and procedures through ongoing competency assessments.
  • Deliver medications to appropriate locations, monitor storage environments, and assist with unit inspections.
  • Comply with federal, state, and department policies regarding controlled substances and utilize secure systems for distribution.
  • Answer phones and respond to med messages professionally, maintaining a positive attitude and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Participate in cleanroom maintenance, demonstrate proficiency in mathematical calculations, and support inventory management.
  • Support emergency drug supply systems, participate in training, and contribute to workplace improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
  • PTCB Certified or ExCPT.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure.

Skills

  • Proficiency in medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Knowledge of USP797 and 800 guidelines.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and conversions.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
