Job Duties
- Assists customers at the counter, receives written prescriptions for Pharmacists, and retrieves filled prescriptions.
- Rings up orders.
- Receives payment, makes change, processes checks, credit and debit charges.
- Assists Pharmacists in updating patient profile and entering prescription information into the pharmacy computer, to extent allowable by State law.
- Presents patient confidentiality.
- Answers phones and provides prompt and courteous member service including answering questions at pharmacy windows, and directing members to product location.
- Assists Pharmacists in filling prescriptions by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, re-stocking, labeling, and pricing prescriptions under direct Pharmacist’s supervision.
- Prepares third-party insurance claims, to the extent allowable by State law.
- Processes invoices and makes accounting entries using a computerized system.
- Orders, receives, tags, and stocks prescription drugs, and supplies.
- Follows product storage procedures and standards.
- Orders, receives, tags, and stocks over-the-counter products in accordance with merchandising plans for the department.
- Creates product signs.
- Cleans department by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting.
- Empty trash and operate a trash compactor and cardboard baler.
- Follows security and safety procedures, including securing the department by appropriately storing or disposing of confidential documents and by using proper disposal methods for immunization supplies and hazardous waste.
- Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Absorbs ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery.
- Assists with department duties as necessary.
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations and customer service principles.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with pharmacy software and inventory management systems.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
