Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute all intravenous medications (including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs, investigational chemotherapy, biologics and supportive care medications).
- Procure and distribute prescription medication orders per physician and pharmacist instruction.
- Maintain and generate patient reports and records through the applicable computer system.
- Maintain appropriate investigational medication records, as assigned.
- Maintain adequate medication inventories and pharmacy supplies.
- Contribute to the effective operation of the pharmacy department by performing daily and accurate medication computer order entries, accurate recording of patient credits and charges, and all patient information.
- Conduct inventory of all medication as required.
- Responsible for daily filing and orderly maintenance of paperwork.
- Record and maintain freezer, refrigerator, and room temperature monitoring logs.
- Communicate effectively and courteously via phone and in writing.
- Organize and prioritize work assignments.
- Maintain current technician certification by completing all competence/skill assessment testing and attending continuing education programs.
Qualifications
- A true and correct copy of renewal certificate must be provided.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Licenses: Current Pharmacy technician certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
- Experience: One to two years of IV and/or chemotherapy admixture experience preferred but not required. IV / chemotherapy certification is a plus.
