Pharmacy Technician

Primary duties

• Intakes new prescriptions including pertinent patient information and answers department phone.
• Prepares and packages medications for pharmacist verification.
• Ability to interpret, calculate, and data entry of prescriptions/insurance info.
• Calling insurance companies to resolve issues.
• Initiating Prior Authorization process.
• Affords assistance in pharmacy inventory management: inventory returns, restocking shelves, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, monitoring for outdated drugs, and physical inventory preparation.
• Affords assistance to patients/ring out sales at POS while providing quality customer service in a timely manner.
• Processes bank deposits.
• Affords assistance with prescription filing.
• Follows USP medication regulations when required.
• Records the temperatures of the refrigerator and ambient room as required by NJ Board of Pharmacy.
• Affords assistance with ordering and maintaining the OTC (over-the-counter) section within your department.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid NJ Driver’s License.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail pharmacy setting preferred.
• Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and pharmacology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

The anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey is $24.75 - $30.93 per hour. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
