Join Our Team and Make a Difference in Patient Care! Are you a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician who is passionate about helping patients and supporting exceptional healthcare delivery? We are seeking a Full-Time Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Holmdel, New Jersey.
Responsibilities
- Prepares medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
- Verifies all orders for insurance approval before admixing. Under a professional's supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines, and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
- Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
- Maintains indigent patient drug program as assigned.
- Counts controlled drugs weekly and maintain records.
- Maintains current drug information and MSDS sheets.
- Assists lead pharmacy technician in ensuring that standard drug supplies are in adequate supply in all departments.
- Assists in controlled substance record keeping in accordance with practice guidelines, state and federal regulations.
- Disposes of materials used in mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs in accordance with practice guidelines, state and federal law.
- Cleans hoods daily, check drugs monthly for outdates, and perform and document other quality assurance activities.
- Keeps accurate temperature logs and logs for protocol and patient assistance drugs.
- Manages inventory appropriately, including proper documentation of inventory quantities, lot numbers and expiration dating when appropriate.
- Provides support across the medication use continuum including label preparation, documentation, perform basic data entry and pre-billing review, prepare labels, and order medications and supplies as directed.
- Aids in required cleaning and maintenance of the admixture area and the pharmacy department in accordance with state rules and USP compliance.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three to five years experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
- I.V. certification preferred.
- Must have fulfilled all requirements of the Board of Pharmacy registration.
- Pharmacy Technician state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Pharmacy registration.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
- I.V. certification preferred.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate recommended unless required by state law.
