Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Pharmacy Technician. The preferred schedule is Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm with one Saturday and one Sunday a month. The listed wage reflects the entry-level rate for this position. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and qualifications.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

• Active California State Board of Pharmacy Technician license in good standing required
• Basic computer and typing skills
• Cash register and customer service experience
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening

Essential Job Duties

• Manage incoming requests from patient, provider and referral team for new medications and medication refills
• Understand the insurance and healthcare benefits, submit prior authorizations to the PBM, and ensure that the required supporting documentation is submitted for review
• Investigate and verify benefits for pharmacy claims for assigned cases
• Contact providers for additional information to facilitate coverage determination reviews
• Notify physicians, providers and members of coverage determination request decisions
• Ensure scripts are filled in a timely manner by coordinating with the requesting provider, and reaching out to other departments as needed
• Ensure the patient completed the necessary labs and diagnostic testing as required prior to dispensing certain medication (Accutane, etc)
• Adhere to the implemented refill center workflow
• Adapt easily to a high volume, fast pace medical group setting
• Manage escalated patient care issues in collaboration with the Admissions, Providers and Case Management teams as appropriate
• Prepare medication for mailing, delivery, operate register, handle money and prepare deposits accurately
• Absorb and perform all inventory activities: drug ordering, insurance audits, recalls, returns, outdates, CII reconciliation, maintaining pharmacy stock levels
• Communicate with the Pharmacist on duty for consults on medications as well as discrepancies on drug orders
