Pharmacy Technician

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing support and assistance to clinical staff in the management of medication ordering and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Communicates among a number of individuals, including patients, co-workers, insurance companies and prescribers
• Demonstrates compassion and care by proactively identifying and resolving potential problems
• Works on a team to fulfill prescription orders from start to finish with an in-depth understanding of each workstation
• Understands and follows applicable Federal and State laws (e.g. HIPAA), regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles. Complies with policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, and protect patient privacy and security
• Balances quality and efficiency in all tasks, contributing to both patient outcomes and broader team goals
• As allowable by state law, certified and trained pharmacy technicians can expand on their clinical and managerial responsibilities
• Promotes a sense of "teamwork" through demonstration of self-direction and self-motivation
• Displays outstanding customer service skills when interacting with patients, outside providers, referral sources or others
• Other tasks as identified and allowed per regulations
• Responsible for continued professional growth and development

Education

• High School graduate or GED required
• Current valid and unrestricted pharmacy technician license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy

Experience

• Must have completed Pharmacy Technician Trainee requirements

• Ability to work on a team in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills in English as well as basic reading and math skills
• Computer proficiency with an electronic medical record
• Commitment to exceptional customer service

Working Conditions

• Physical Environment: Frequent sitting, occasional standing & walking, and lifting of 5-10 lbs
• Manual Dexterity: Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate computer keyboard
• Audible/Visual Demands: Requires ability to see computer screen and reports
• Upholds procedures and systems to safeguard the confidentiality of all patient and employee information

Pay

Compensation range is $23.00 - $33.00 per hour. Final rate depends on years of experience.
