Pharmacy Technician
Job Description
The Pharmacy Warehouse Fulfillment Technician performs designated technical and clerical tasks associated with the preparation, labeling and dispensing of medications, including sterile admixtures and prepackaged or unit dose drugs. In addition, performs designated tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, inventory control and preparation of orders for drugs. All functions are under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
Qualification Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current and valid Pharmacy Technician license in good standing and issued by the state in which duties are performed, required
- National certification by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required
- Strong customer service skills, focus and dedication
- Basic computer and internet skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Qualifications Preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of pharmacy technician experience preferred
- Familiarity with home infusion medications preferred
- Knowledge of CareTend Pharmacy Software preferred
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Performs all duties under direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Adheres to BioMatrix policies and procedures; and complies with federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
- Complies with HIPAA Privacy Rule, and maintains strict confidentiality of patient, client and employee information.
- Prepares and generates batches for preparation of prescriptions.
- Prepares prescriptions and enters into CPR+ pharmacy software system for Pharmacist verification including delivery addresses, FedEx tracking numbers, changes in patient health status and communications to Pharmacist.
- Accurately enters new product and supply inventory into CPR+ and maintains appropriate drug and supply inventory levels.
- Generates labels, picks, and packages prepackaged and unit dose drugs in accordance with dispensing order (pick-list).
- Maintains patient files with current prescriptions.
- Ensures all pending orders are approved by communicating with the billing department prior to shipment to assure insurance clearance prior to shipment date (prior authorization).
- Notifies pharmacist of new prescriptions for subsequent patient orders.
- Works with intake coordinator to schedule shipment of drugs, pumps and supplies.
- Communicates with field staff and managers on shipment details: items shipped, delivery address, shipment date.
- Processes reorders in CPR+ according to RCC/PCS Order Request Forms.
- Accepts product and supply deliveries, unpacks, verifies accuracy of order and forwards packing information to accounts payable department.
- Maintains medication, ancillaries and supplies inventory levels to company goals; rotates stock and utilizes return process.
- Ensures pharmacy area is clean and maintained per organizational policy and procedure.
- Proactively improves understanding of bleeding disorders and other chronic disorders, products and treatments; stays current on legislative changes and insurance coverages, and is capable of disseminating this information to employees, patients and others within the bleeding disorder community.
- Attends QMC meetings on a quarterly basis and provides input.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise; attends continuing education programs to maintain expertise in pharmacy and information systems.
- Participates in continuing education programs appropriate to this position, and maintain current knowledge of government regulations and industry best practices; provides relevant updates to staff members accordingly.
Non-essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Must have scheduling flexibility and be able to work overtime when necessary.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Performs related duties as requested.
- Participates in quality assurance activities and audits as directed.

Pay Range/Rate
$16 - $24 USD
