Responsibilities
- Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.
- Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the Pharmacy department.
- Prepares sterile and non-sterile compounds.
- Repackages bulk medications.
- Receives and stores incoming supplies.
- Triages incoming calls and serves as a liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals by providing information.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration
- Registered Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy obtained within 3 months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.
- One or more of the following:
- Certified Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.
- Non-certified incumbents hired prior to 4/30/18 are grandfathered and not required to hold certification.
- Certified Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.
- Non-certified incumbents hired prior to 4/30/18 are grandfathered and not required to hold certification.
Education
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
