About the role
This position is an apprentice-level role within Cleveland Clinic’s School of Pharmacy Technology. The apprentice will work under the supervision of licensed pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, gaining hands-on experience in inpatient settings.Responsibilities
- Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding).
- Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.
- Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings.
- Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy upon hire
- Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months
- Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
- Basic computer skills
Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire
- Ohio Board of Pharmacy registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire
- Ohio Board of Pharmacy registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and PTCB Certification within 12 months
- Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
- Basic computer skills
