About the role
As a Pharmacy Technician Specialist, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of technician specialty practice areas such as billing, diversion, automation, medication history, and others. Your responsibilities will include providing user support, performing maintenance and troubleshooting, monitoring system functionality, and ensuring policies and procedures are documented and followed. You will also coordinate upgrade testing, education, and serve as the subject matter expert for your specialty area. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will assist in technical, non-clinical tasks such as preparing medications for dispensing, mixing IVs, managing inventory, and supporting pharmacy operations.

Requirements
- High School graduate or GED
- At least three years of previous hospital pharmacy technician experience (inclusive of training programs)
- One year of experience with an identified specialty system/process
- Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy, if required by the state of employment
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree
- PTCB/ASHP Specialty Credentials (applicable to the specialty practice area)
