Pharmacy Tech - Per Diem
Employment Type: Part time, Per Diem
Shift: PRN per department needs, including weekends and holidays
Location: Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital - Darby, PA
About the role
Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director and according to the established procedures of the pharmacy department, the technician assists the pharmacists and other pharmacy personnel in all aspects of hospital pharmacy. This includes the preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications for inpatients and outpatients, performing related duties to maintain workflow such as charging medications, filling Pyxis™ Medstations, crediting and redistributing returns, and assisting in the maintenance of inventory levels within the department.
In addition, the technician assists in the preparation, dispensing, and delivery of parenteral solutions for inpatients and outpatients. The Technician will maintain workflow in the IV room with activities such as delivering IVs to nursing units, recycling IV products, processing IV returns, and batching IVs and syringes as backup stock for new orders. The purpose is the delivery of quality care for patients of all ages (neonate through geriatrics).
Responsibilities
- Prepare, dispense, and deliver medications for inpatients and outpatients
- Charge medications and fill Pyxis™ Medstations
- Credit and redistribute returned medications
- Maintain inventory levels within the department
- Prepare, dispense, and deliver parenteral solutions for inpatients and outpatients
- Deliver IVs to nursing units and process IV returns
- Recycle IV products and batch IVs and syringes as backup stock
Requirements
- Certified Pharmacy Technician in good standing (CPhT or EXCPT)
- PA Pharmacy Tech Registration
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous hospital experience required
- Experience with Pyxis preferred
