Responsibilities
- Perform all functions and duties of a Pharmacy Technician to ensure prompt service in the Pharmacy Department.
- Perform computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to: patient search, prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation and entry, insurance billing, and basic problem resolution.
- Accept customer and prescription information required to process new and refill prescriptions, including refill authorizations from doctor offices where permitted by state law.
- Retrieve the appropriate medication from inventory where permitted by state law.
- Create prescription labels and place them on prescription containers where permitted by state law.
- Assist with maintaining the Pharmacy Department by keeping it clean and in order.
- Assist in inventory management processes including order review, inventory returns, restocking shelves, and physical inventory preparation.
- Reconstitute oral liquids where permitted by state law.
- Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services.
- Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.
- Complete new tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of experience required.
- Must be certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or obtain certification within 6 months of hire date, and provide documentation that certification is completed within the required time frame.
- Successful completion of a pharmacy technician program preferred.
- Registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Complete all Chesapeake Regional Healthcare training modules relative to a Pharmacy Technician.
