Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the work of an area in the department in mission, vision, and values.
  • Assists in the implementation of performance improvement projects and assists in collecting data to measure the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and develops a plan to address the issues.
  • Drives operations in alignment with policies and procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities to revise policies as appropriate.
  • Schedules labor and equipment.
  • Accountable for the accurate reporting of time and attendance of direct reports.
  • Hiring, orienting, and developing staff.
  • Conducts employee evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary processes to align employee performance and behaviors.
  • Responsible for the training and education of staff, including annual compliance and licensing or certification.
  • Plans for rotational experiences and schedules students and residents.
  • May serve as residency program director or coordinator.
  • Precepts residents and students as assigned.
  • Serves as a role model.
  • Performs the essential functions of a clinical pharmacist.
  • May perform the responsibilities of a pharmacist-in-charge, or license holder according to Federal, State of Utah, or other relevant states, or laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PharmD or MS) or equivalent clinical practice experience.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, service orientation, and organizational skills.
  • Licenses Required: Current licensure to dispense controlled substances in the State of Utah. Current Pharmacist license in the State of Utah.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential function of the job as outlined in the position description.
  • Ability and willingness to train department trainees (eg students, residents, new staff).
  • Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
  • Demonstrated authority to make personnel decisions including hiring, staffing, adapting schedules to departmental needs, and taking disciplinary actions where warranted.
  • Demonstrated the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
