About the role
The Pharmacy Supervisor oversees the pharmacy staff in distributive functions and departmental operations, supporting the pharmacy operations manager, pharmacy clinical manager, and director of pharmacy.
Responsibilities
- Providing daily supervision of operations, coordination of work, quality of service, and team members in the assigned area(s).
- Serving as a functional expert, coaching and mentoring staff to ensure high employee morale and professional atmosphere, delivering timely feedback.
- Participating in the accomplishment of daily work as a team member including medication order validation, communication with providers, troubleshooting/resolving customer/patient related issues, and team relationship building.
- Maintaining and completing monthly and annual reporting requirements.
- Facilitating resolution of workflow & IT issues by partnering with key stakeholders.
- Participating in quality/safety improvement projects, and effectively prioritizing staff and management tasks.
- Evaluating staff performance, handling disciplinary actions, providing input in budget planning, and assisting with monitoring resource utilization.
Qualifications
- Doctoral Degree, Pharmacy (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree, Pharmacy (Required)
- Program Graduate (if a foreign graduate of Pharmacy, must complete all requirements for equivalency as outlined by the National Associate of Board of Pharmacy (NABP)) (Required)
- 2 years Related Pharmacist experience in related practice setting (Required)
- 1 year ASHP PGY1 residency training (Preferred)
- Previous supervisory/leadership experience preferred (may be in an informal role) (Preferred)
- Licensed Pharmacist - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) within 60 Days (Required)
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) - Board of Pharmacy Specialties (Preferred)
