PHARMACY SPECIALIST
About the role
Under direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with specific and detailed instructions, this position assists in the packaging, manufacturing, distribution of drugs and supplies. It involves performing various non-judgmental functions in all areas of the department including ambulatory and inpatient drug distribution, sterile product preparation, manufacturing and packaging as well as provision of ambulatory services.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the packaging, manufacturing, distribution of drugs and supplies under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Performs various non-judgmental functions in all areas of the department including ambulatory and inpatient drug distribution, sterile product preparation, manufacturing and packaging as well as provision of ambulatory services.
- Responsible for the procurement of inventory and inventory control.
- Utilizes automated and computerized technology as required.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent on the job training.
- PTCB certification.
- NYS Pharmacy Technician license and registration.
- Experience in retail pharmacy is preferred.
- Must be able to work every other weekend.
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and inventory control practice and procedures.
- Excellent communications, customer service and business interpersonal skills.
- PC, Windows and other business or pharmacy computer system literacy.
Qualifications
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent on the job training, PTCB certification, NYS Pharmacy Technician license and registration. Experience in retail pharmacy is preferred. Must be able to work every other weekend. Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and inventory control practice and procedures, excellent communications, customer service and business interpersonal skills, and PC, Windows and other business or pharmacy computer system literacy are also required.
