About the role
The Pharmacy Specialist assists the Pharmacy team in the administrative and technical operations of the pharmacy. This role involves assisting in the development and continued evaluation of a training process for Clinic staff interacting with the pharmacy, to assure compliance with pharmacy procedures (i.e., drug accountability, storage, administration of doses, and proper documentation of the trail of study drug to and from the pharmacy). Candidates must be willing to gain broad experience in clinical research outside of regular pharmacy tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist staff in the receipt, storage, dispensing, and return of drug products while acting as a liaison with Pharmacy management, Clinical teams, Project Managers, and Operations.
- Prepare and review the accuracy of labels, assist in packaging of doses, and account for all dosage units entering and leaving the Clinic per FDA regulations and guidelines and per study protocol requirements.
- Assure proper protocol and regulatory procedures are followed in the receipt and handling of drug by team members and other staff responsible for dosing.
- Assist in assuring that study drug product prepared and/or checked by pharmacy technical staff is of the highest quality standards to ensure the safety of the study participants and integrity of the study, including assisting with the completion of all required in-house sterile technique skills tests for all staff.
- Assist in the continued evaluation of a training program for Clinic staff that interacts with the pharmacy, to assure compliance with pharmacy procedures.
- Interact with sponsors and clients regarding potential and on-going studies, explaining K2 Med procedures and responding to sponsor/client requests regarding handling of drug, close-out issues, and other operational matters.
- Assure close-out of studies are handled properly, including ensuring drug is returned to sponsor, stored correctly, or otherwise managed depending on protocol and sponsor requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the expanding needs of both Phase 1 and outpatient pharmacy operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
- 2+ years pharmacy technician experience.
- Pharmacy technician certification, licensed with the Board of Pharmacy.

- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Schedule
Four-day work week, consisting of 10-hour shifts from Monday through Thursday. Fridays are reserved only for critical business needs or administrative tasks.
