Pharmacy Resident
Job Summary
Under general supervision and in accordance with the accreditation standards of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, participates in a concentrated post graduate training program in hospital pharmacy practice involving the following areas:
- Direct Patient Care
- Ambulatory Patient Care
- Drug Information and Drug Use Policy
- Practice Management
Qualifications
- Doctorate of Pharmacy.
- Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
- Membership in the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists within 90 days of hire date.
- Registered Pharmacist and Controlled Substance licenses in the State of Michigan obtained within 3 months of entry into job.
Skills Required
- A thorough understanding of the pharmacologic, sociologic, and management principles necessary to assist in the safe, effective utilization of drugs by patients.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work productively with patients, physicians, families, and a variety of hospital personnel.
- Interest, initiative, independence, and ability to provide specialized patient care services.
Facility Description
DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, Michigan’s first Level I Trauma Center, helped pioneer the evolution of emergency medicine and currently has one of the busiest and most well-equipped emergency departments anywhere. The first and largest verified burn center in the state is at Receiving, and it is one of only 43 in the nation. Receiving also offers the state’s leading 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, Metro Detroit’s first certified primary stroke center, and the nationally recognized and accredited DMC Rosa Parks Geriatric Center of Excellence.
