Pharmacy Procurement Specialist YNHH

Responsibilities

• Fulfills established procedures for inventory management including daily medication order fulfillment, recall segregation, and backorder management.
• Affirms inventory levels on pharmaceutical supplies through cycle counting and trend tracking.
• Coordinates pharmaceutical receiving and serves as the liaison for distribution of floor stock requisitions.
• Maintains storage areas for drugs and supplies in an orderly fashion, ensuring accurate labeling and timely removal for pharmacy staff.
• Daily reconciles physical inventory with the inventory tracking system to maintain accuracy.
• Reviews inventory location and performs drug distribution activities, including accurate picking, packaging, and loading medications into automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxsis Machines).
• Works efficiently with the System Buying Team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medication and supply orders.
• Evaluates compliance with charge capture, billing, 340B, and related supply chain regulations, escalating deviations to appropriate leadership.
• Maintains fiscal budgeting by monitoring trends and escalating findings to leadership.
• Ensures compliance with free and consigned medication program requirements.
• Demonstrates principles and conduct consistent with a High Reliability Organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Successful completion of academic or military pharmacy technician training course and certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Inventory Management Certification strongly preferred.
• One year experience as a hospital pharmacy technician and inventory management preferred.
• Experience as a retail pharmacy technician and academic training or experience in other health-related fields also considered.
• Current registration/licensure or eligibility for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of employment, as outlined by the respective State regulatory agencies.
• Active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or equivalent required on or within 12 months of date of hire.
• Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Connecticut as outlined by the Dept. of Consumer Protection.
• Must be able to prioritize competing demands, work independently, show flexibility, and demonstrate teamwork.
• Must have good communication skills, including the ability to work with computer equipment and perform basic troubleshooting functions.
• Must be able to lift numerous totes and boxes up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.
