Pharmacy Manager

About the role
Coordinate drug distribution and other pharmacy activities, ensuring safe and efficient methods for established pharmacy policy concerning drug patient care. Provide clinical drug information to meet the needs of patients and healthcare team members. Serve as the responsible pharmacist in charge with legal responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily workflow, medication dispensing, and patient services.
- Review and interpret physicians’ orders for appropriateness, ensuring no interactions, incompatibilities, or toxic compounds result from medication combinations; ensure proper labeling, storage, and utilization.
- Dispense prescriptions to outpatients in accordance with The Centers’ policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to all state and federal pharmacy laws, controlled substance regulations, and proper record-keeping.
- Counsel patients about medications, advise on drug interactions, collaborate with providers, and maintain accurate patient profiles.
- Supervise adherence packing of drugs and control procedures.
- Provide drug information (e.g., dosing, compatibilities, formulary substitutes) to nursing, physicians, and other healthcare practitioners.
- Participate in in-service education programs as requested.
- Contribute to the development of policy, procedure, and workflow to ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.
- Lead, train, evaluate, and schedule pharmacy technicians and support staff.
- Manage ordering, storage, and security of medications, including controlled substances.
- Conduct inventories and cycle counts in accordance with The Centers’ policies.
- Maintain professional competency through continuing education, organization memberships, meetings, lectures, seminars, and journal reading.
- Ensure the quality of professional services is maintained.
- Manage acquisition and administration of vaccines.
- Help pilot new programs, provide feedback, and assist in rollout and execution across other sites.
- Collect and document pharmacy data to evaluate, assess, and modify practices, communicating findings with the VP of Pharmacy Services.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Licensed, Registered Pharmacist in the state of Ohio (RPh or PharmD).
- Vaccination certified and able to provide vaccines and other approved injectable medications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary team settings.
- Knowledge of current pharmacy laws and best practices.
- Outstanding customer service skills; serves as the face of pharmacy to clients, coworkers, and medical colleagues.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural diversity of the population served.
