Responsibilities

• Prepares and distributes under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Prepares non-hazardous and hazardous IV admixtures.
• Refills automated dispensing cabinets (ADC).
• Fills and labels medications.
• Answers the telephone and routes calls as appropriate.
• Delivers medications to patient care areas.
• Maintains medication stock levels.
• Maintains proper storage of medications to ensure safe and cost-effective pharmaceutical care services.
• Maintains general pharmacy organization and cleanliness.
• Provides exceptional customer service.
• Uses basic computer skills and information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Registered Pharmacy Technician license.
• PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician certification.
• At least 3 years technician experience, preferably in hospital compounding or outpatient infusion.
• Complex Hazardous Compounding experience required, including 20 hours or more per week compounding hazardous medications, compounding novel chemotherapy therapies, TPN, pump filling and programming, and use of a closed-system transfer devices (CSTD).

Qualifications

• High School, GED, or equivalent.
• Additional qualifications include sterile compounding certification (preferred).

Skills

• Basic computer skills.
• Proficiency in using information systems, technology, and automation.
