Pharmacy Exchange Technician
Responsibilities
- Assists the pharmacist with preparation of routine medications for distribution to facilities based on physician orders and prescriptions.
- Fill cycle medication orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner.
- Review pre-pack list and prepare 30/31 day cards with the appropriate drugs.
- Works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist assisting with dispensing medication according to the prescription.
- Assist the inventory tech with restocking and cleaning shelves with medication and other items as needed.
- May assist with regular inventory cycle.
- Aid in shipping the medications according to the facility and work with the shipping clerk to ensure boxes are shipped in a timely manner.
- Sort prescriptions according to facility and print packing slips for cycle exchange.
- Communicate with nursing staff to obtain/provide key information.
- Follow all applicable government regulations including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Pharmacy technician certification in the appropriate state.
- Minimum one year of related experience in data entry.
- Excellent data entry skills.
- Attention to detail and be able to work under deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
