Pharmacist PRN
About the role
We are seeking a Pharmacist PRN to join St. David's Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare. This position involves monitoring, evaluating, and recommending appropriate pharmaceutical use for patient care, interacting with patients and healthcare providers, and providing medication therapy.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and evaluate appropriate and effective use of pharmaceuticals for patient care
- Interact with patients and healthcare providers to ensure compliance with current standards of practice and continuity of services
- Interpret medication orders and transcribe to the computer system
- Accurately and effectively provide medication therapy
- Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals
- Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose
- Suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic medication alternatives to medical staff
- Sustain the hospital formulary, minimize non-formulary procurements, utilize therapeutic interchanges, and promote rational drug therapy selection
- Assist with clinical services such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, and other programs as defined by Pharmacy Leadership
- Complete notification reports regarding medication errors and adverse drug reactions
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
- One year hospital experience – preferred
- Current Pharmacist license with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
- Sterile Products (IV) Certification through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) within 60 days of hire

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacist PRN who is passionate about creating positive patient interactions and is ready to bring their expertise to St. David's Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy, one year of hospital experience, a current Pharmacist license with TSBP, and Sterile Products (IV) Certification through ACPE.
