Job Summary

South Texas Spine & Surgical Hospital seeks a Pharmacist to join our dedicated team. We are committed to providing exceptional care and fostering a supportive environment where our team members can thrive.

About the Role

The Pharmacist will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist Director. They will ensure the safe and effective use of medications, monitor drug therapies, and collaborate with medical staff to optimize patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Prevents, detects, and resolves medication-related problems
  • Verifies patient medication orders for appropriateness and accuracy
  • Transcribes written medication orders into the electronic medical record
  • Documents clinical interventions accurately
  • Ensures medications are stored according to manufacturers' guidelines and secured
  • Accurately dispenses and distributes drugs and medicines for inpatients and outpatients
  • Maintains competency in the electronic medical record
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Complies with STSSH Customer Service Standards and builds rapport with patients and colleagues
  • Routinely works rotating shifts and handles call responsibilities
  • Manages automatic dispensing machines for accuracy and efficiency
  • Assists with diversion prevention programs
  • Attends pharmacy department meetings and other required programs
  • Supports and participates in the educational and professional development of the Pharmacy department and Pharmacy students
  • Participates in performance improvement and patient safety activities

Qualifications

  • Registered with the Texas Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist
  • Proficiency in Pharmacy distributive services
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Compliance with state and federal drug laws
  • Adherence to infection-control protocols
  • Completion of required continuing education credits
