About the role

Oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring workflow management, clinical patient management, continuous quality improvement, policy adherence, regulatory compliance, sales, expense control, inventory management, and customer service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure department personnel provide hospitable, courteous, and efficient service to all customers, including patients, providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, and health systems.
  • Manage daily pharmacy operations to improve prescription numbers, sales, profit, and department image through accurate prescription filling and high-quality customer service.
  • Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policies and procedures related to prescription incidents and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations governing drugs and products; maintain required records, documentation, and reports.
  • Implement asset protection controls and procedures to minimize profit loss.
  • Maintain pharmacy department housekeeping, maintenance, and appearance for safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the store’s safe and cash operations, including electronic register readings, cash withdrawals, and daily cash reports.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy systems and equipment.
  • Oversee third-party pharmacy business opportunities, resolve payment rejections, and resubmit claims promptly.
  • Manage and control prescription department inventory, adhering to company buying procedures.
  • Supervise pharmacy team members to ensure performance and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper licensure and training of all pharmacy personnel, including compliance with payer and pharmaceutical contractual requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of developments in pharmacy, healthcare, and retail management fields and integrate them into practice.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with physicians and other health professionals.
  • Collaborate with Local Specialty Pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist license in the states within the district (or willingness to obtain within 1 year).
  • At least 1 year of pharmacy experience, including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, and software/technology systems.
  • Completed specialized training or sufficient practical experience in medication and disease states (e.g., HIV, Organ Transplant, Oncology) to provide specialized services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience at a Walgreens Local Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Overall performance review score of "Exceeds Expectations" for the most recent period and "Achieving Expectations" for the earliest review period.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $87,859 – $168,896, depending on geography, skills, education, and experience.
