Pharmacist in Charge

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to join our team at Lake Shore Pharmacy. As a pharmacist in charge, you will be receiving incoming prescriptions, reviewing them for accuracy, and filling them with the correct medicine and dose. You will also be talking with customers to help them understand their medications and possible side effects, advising them on medication storage, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and is familiar with pharmaceutical best practices.

Responsibilities

• Dispense prescriptions, compound, and sell pharmaceuticals, medicines, and related drug items on behalf of the Company.
• Maintain proper records for the purchase and dispensing of all prescription-required drugs, including controlled substances.
• Manage medication and ensure appropriate handling and safety.
• Remove misbranded, adulterated, outdated, or improperly labeled drugs from stock.
• Ensure proper storage of drugs to prevent loss or deterioration.
• Ensure coverage of the pharmacy by licensed pharmacists.
• Prevent unauthorized refills of prescriptions and unauthorized sale of legend drugs.
• Prevent unauthorized entry into the pharmacy’s dispensing and compounding area and ensure appropriate security.
• Provide patient support and education, maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Perform all tasks expected of a licensed professional in this field.
• Maintain license status and continuing education credentials for professional license.
• Ensure no prescription-required drugs or devices are sold at wholesale without a New York State Board of Pharmacy wholesaler registration.
• Ensure the pharmacy is properly registered and operating in accordance with all present laws, rules, and regulations.
• Issue verbal and written notices to employees and subordinates concerning laws, rules, and regulations (Federal, state, and local) relative to proper pharmacy practice.
• Oversee all day-to-day functions associated with the operation, including staffing, safety, and maintenance of the pharmacy, while complying with mandatory local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current state pharmacist license or degree.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and shift priorities as needed.
• Strong communication skills.
• Reliable, independent self-starter.
• A Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) with immunization certification is preferred.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40-50 hours per week.
• Monday-Friday, with Saturdays as needed.
• Schedules are written in two-week increments and may fluctuate to accommodate staffing and days off for an extended period.
• Classified as an exempt employee.

Pay

Bi-weekly pay rate of $62-$65 hourly, based on experience.
