Role Overview
Provides pharmaceutical care, verifies medication orders, compounds, and dispenses pharmaceuticals following regulations and hospital policies. Acts as a resource for healthcare professionals, including students and residents, ensuring safe and effective patient care. Oversees pharmacy technicians and interns.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures medication safety through order verification, counseling, chart review, and dose adjustments; documents plans in electronic records.
- Provides clinical consultation, recommending safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective pharmacotherapy.
- Supervises medication dispensing process, overseeing pharmacy technicians and interns.
- Precepts pharmacy students and residents.
- Maintains a high level of alertness and safety in all duties.
- Performs additional assigned tasks.
Qualifications & Skills
- Pharm.D or Bachelor of Pharmacy from an accredited school.
- No prior experience required.
- Must hold a valid pharmacist license in the applicable state.
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification required within 90 days.
- Physical requirements include lifting, standing, reaching, and data entry.
