Pharmacist

About the role

The Pharmacist is responsible for filling and dispensing medication orders, including the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. They order, supply, and maintain necessary drug supplies to all patient care areas, uphold departmental standards, and translate policies and procedures into daily pharmacy operations. The role also involves acting as an information resource for patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information. Additionally, the Pharmacist plans and organizes the work schedule of supportive personnel and pharmacists as required.

Responsibilities

• Fill and dispense medication orders
• Ensure proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy
• Order, supply, and maintain necessary drug supplies for all patient care areas
• Maintain departmental standards and implement policies and procedures
• Serve as an information resource on medication therapy and drug-related topics for patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Plan and organize work schedules for supportive personnel and pharmacists

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an accredited school
• Current state license; must maintain license renewal in accordance with State Board of Pharmacy standards
• One to three years of pharmacy experience as a registered pharmacist in a hospital preferred
• Basic computer skills with minimal guidance
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
