Pay

$2,581.00 - $3,226.00 monthly ($30,972.00 - $38,712.00 annually)

About the role

The Public Health Laboratory Technician 1 is an entry/working-level position supporting laboratory testing operations in the TDH Division of Laboratory Services. Under immediate supervision, the incumbent performs routine technical and non-technical tasks to support laboratory testing and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist laboratory personnel in testing processes and operations, including routine laboratory and administrative tasks, prioritizing workloads, and completing assignments accurately and on time.
  • Support routine administrative and clerical work, data management, and record retention in accordance with division processes and procedures.
  • Accurately receive, accession, and route specimens/samples to appropriate laboratory sections for processing and testing.
  • Assist in specimen/sample inventory and management, reagent and supply inventory, procurement, waste management, and preparation/distribution of reagents, media, and supplies.
  • Contribute to laboratory processes and procedures, perform routine equipment service and maintenance, and assist in process improvements and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate and coordinate laboratory operational and testing activities with personnel, supervisors, and managers; report operational issues promptly.
  • Participate in section and division activities and initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
  • Valid vehicle operator’s license.
