About the role
The Southeast Health District is seeking a full-time, salaried Epidemiologist 1, 2, or 3 position based in Waycross, GA. Our mission is to promote and protect the health of people in Southeast Georgia.
Job Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, and conducts epidemiologic investigations, surveillance activities, and interventions to identify disease causes and implement effective control measures.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares comprehensive epidemiologic reports.
- Provides training, technical assistance, and consultative services related to epidemiology and disease control.
- Supports the implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to reduce the prevalence of communicable diseases by conducting investigations, and performing data collection, analysis, interpretation, surveillance, and reporting activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in public health or closely related field from an accredited college or university OR
- Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Public Health or a closely related field, along with relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in conducting public health surveillance, analyzing epidemiologic data, performing in-depth outbreak investigations, and reporting findings.
- Experience implementing disease control measures and strategies.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
