About the role
As a Public Health Registered Nurse within the Stephens County Health Department at District Two, Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals supporting the mission of protecting lives and promoting healthy lifestyles for Georgia residents. District 2 Public Health serves 13 counties in northeast Georgia, including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties. This fast-growing region includes both rural and urban communities with diverse public health challenges.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and procedures at varying supervision levels (PH RN 1, 2, or 3).
- Focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability; promotion of health; and maintenance of population health.
- Care for populations with special needs during disasters, emergencies, and biological/chemical protocol situations.
- Know and administer vaccine schedules for children and adults.
- Provide required vaccines for school attendance along with correct certifications.
- Conduct audits for schools and daycares.
- Perform scoliosis, hearing, vision, and dental screenings for school attendance.
- Cross-train in TB, Child Health, Family Planning, and IDC clinics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
PH RN 1: Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a Public Health Nurse (PHN) course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. No experience required.
PH RN 2: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree/diploma in Nursing from an accredited college AND one year of PHN experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
PH RN 3: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND one year of nursing experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND two years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
